Case Study: Hot Tub Decking Area

April 2022
Armani Eagle

About The Project

The brief for this project was to create a family friendly, low maintenance decking area that was able to support a hot tub. The client wanted to avoid using any real wood on the project for the obvious reason that it would rot far quicker with the constant risk of water spilling over the side of the hot tub and onto the boards or subframe. They were advised to use an aluminium subframe system to avoid any future problems of rot and have an area that would stand the test of time. The client enlisted the help of Andrew Norman at Yorkshire Composite Decking for the install, and the project was completed within a few days after he had created the initial designs.

The Proposal

A slightly raised decking area is what was suggested as the decking could be supported on our easy to install Tectonic® Aluminium subframe system. Once the client had seen our composite decking samples, they very quickly decided that OVAEDA’s woodgrain light grey was their favourite for the main body of the area. The client also decided the go for a sophisticated Dark Grey bullnose profile to run around the edge of the decking area as opposed to using corner trims. The bullnose is just able to add that last neat touch to finish of the area. In the initial drawings provided by Yorkshire Composite Decking, they included Dark Grey boards to break up sections of the decking area, creating a neat finish.
