Frequently asked questions
What is composite decking?
Composite Decking is manufactured from composition of wood flour and plastic, resulting in a material that has warmth and charm of wood without the drawbacks. Composite Decking will never rot, twist, splinter or crack, and is very long lasting
How long does composite decking last?
All of our composite decking is manufactured with sustainable processes, and the timber content is solely sourced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified sources, which means we are part of the drive to take care of the world's forests. We guarantee a minimum of 10 years with our Natura™ Contemporary range and a minimum of 15 years with our Natura™ Woodgrain range.
What is the difference between timber and composite decking
Unlike timber decking, composite decking requires no treatment or staining. All that is required to keep it looking its best is an occasional wash, which means you have more time to use your decking for what it's meant for - relaxing.
How do I clean/maintain my OVAEDA composite decking
OVAEDA Composite Decking doesn't need to be treated but periodic maintenance with mild soapy water will keep decking looking its best. Work in small manageable areas and always rinse with clean water then allow to air-dry completely. Use a soft-medium plastic bristle deck brush to clean, avoiding abrasive natural fibre brushes as these can dull the surface (particularly on a capped product)
What areas or gardens is porcelain best suited to?
It has a non-slip surface so can be used just about anywhere. Previous projects have used porcelain for patios, balconies, steps and even around swimming pools. The best thing is, it’s so tough that you can use it for driveways, too.
Why do you believe a landscaper would benefit using porcelain over, say, concrete?
For a start, you can choose the size of the slabs. With materials that occur naturally, you’re at the whim of what’s available but as porcelain is man-made, you can opt for larger slabs for larger areas, meaning landscapers can lay tiles in a fraction of the time.
Is there much variety available with porcelain?
Yes, loads. We have a huge range of products to suit the tastes of all of our clients and their customers. We even have porcelain that looks like wood, so you can have all the charm of wooden flooring but with the durability and strength of porcelain.
Can porcelain paving handle the British weather?
Absolutely. In fact, porcelain paving can stand the weather far better than most of us Brits! It’s frost resistant (which comes in very handy in winter, especially for our customers based in the Highlands) but it also doesn’t attract moss or mould so there’s less of a slip risk on rainy days – and we see a lot of those in the UK!
Is Tectonic easy to install?
Where conventional construction methods require a lot of mess with excavations, hardcore and building walls with mortar and blocks, the Tectonic® system creates no mess. Furthermore, installation is significantly faster than traditional methods.
