Case Study: Garden Project – Stone Effect | Basalt Black

The brief for this project was simple, create a modern outdoor living space that compliments the house exterior perfectly. From a design perspective, they wanted to use a colour option that matched the look of their house, which was a beautiful large house with textured stone walls. Originally, they were undecided between Ovaeda® composite decking & porcelain paving, however once they had received samples of both, they were instantly set on using the Basalt Black tiles for their patio. They were keen to transform the area which was fit to host friends and family day and night. The area was certainly large enough for this and a fantastic space for BBQ’s and leisure.

Our Solution:

After consulting with the Ovaeda® sales team about the project, we sent out samples of Stone Effect porcelain paving ‘Basalt Black’ tiles. They specified that they were looking for a slip and weather resistant type of paving so that, once installed, it would be safe to walk on all year round.

We suggested that the paving should be installed on the Tectonic® Aluminium Paving Subframe systemas it was easy to install, and it is the best method for keeping the tiles completely level. Another benefit to using the Tectonic® system that we suggested is that, should there be any need for tiles being replaced, or in this instance lighting to be run around the edges, the paving can be lifted very easily. There might be problems with using lights outdoors as they might not have as long a lifespan as the paving itself.

The paving could also then be completely level with the doors leading outside, whereas before there was a slight fall from the kitchen to the outdoor space. A brilliant example of a landscaping project using the Tectonic® system and Stone Effect porcelain paving to create a stunning outdoor living area.
