About the Project:

Once Sheena and her husband had explained their idea for a raised decking area, using our Luxxe™ Composite Decking boards, we very quickly were able to see what a stunning project this might turn out to be. The idea was to create impressive raised decking area, situated at the end of the garden, complete with furniture in which their relatives and guest could relax on in the summer and in the warmer evenings. The decking area was high enough to be able to look over the rest of the garden where her grandchildren and Labrador could play on.

Using OVAEDA Composite Decking boards was also an ideal choice since the couple had a dog and composite decking boards would never rot, twist, splint or crack, so very pet friendly. The decking needed to embrace any kind of weather, so using traditional timber planks would not have been something to consider.

From a design perspective, they wanted to use a colour style that matched the look of their house, which was a modern style new build with stunning white exterior walls.

Our Solution:

After consulting with the Ovaeda® sales team about the project, we sent out samples of our ‘Luxxe™ Woodgrain’ Composite Decking boards and a ‘Bullnose Edge Board’ to show to the client. They specified that they were looking for a slip and weather resistant type of decking so that, once installed, it would not require any form of treatment or sealing. The Luxxe™ range of composite decking is our more high-end products as it is fully encapsulated for ultimate protection. The boards were not only to be used for the decking area, but also as a vertical to hide the subframe system used underneath. Finally, we suggested that using Bullnose boards around the edge of the decking area and on the steps would really make the project stand out and give it that WOW factor. With the decking area being raised quite high, there was also a need for some sort of balustrade to run around the edge. The balustrades that were sourced were also simple and easy to install on the Bullnose Edge Boards.
